Wildlife Recording

In recent years we have placed greater emphasis on all aspects of wildlife recording. This has included creating electronic versions of the records of birds and other taxa that have been compiled since the reservoir was first formed.

A Rutland Water Wildlife Recording Group has been established to bring together those who are interested or involved in any aspect of recording at Rutland Water. If you are interested in joining the group or helping to carry out recording please email Tim Appleton

One aspect of the work of the group is to make publicly available through this website lists of the species recorded. We hope, over the coming years, to update and add to the lists below.

Moth Records

Since 1991, moth trapping has been regularly undertaken by different recorders at Rutland Water Nature Reserve. The Leicestershire & Rutland Dragonfly Group has a website with many features including an introduction to dragonflies and damselflies, an ID guide covering all the species to be recorded in the county, list and status information, the latest dragonfly news, a county dragonfly site guide, recording info (with downloadable recording forms) etc.
