We are pleased to introduce 2 new members of the Rutland Osprey Project team.
Marie Dipple – Osprey Project Officer
Marie has worked on various wildlife monitoring and conservation projects with the RSPB, Severn Rivers Trust, Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and Denbighshire Countryside Service. She has worked abroad and in the UK as a research assistant in ornithology, and has carried out various public engagement roles with RSPB Chesil Beach, WWT Slimbridge and Denbighshire countryside service Little Tern recovery project. She is a keen ornithologist and lover of all things outdoors, and wants to pursue a career in avian research and conservation!
Katy Smart – Visitor Centre Coordinator
This osprey season Katy is based at the Lyndon Visitor Centre. Previously, Katy has worked for the Wildlife Trusts based in Lancashire and Northumberland in public engagement and wildlife monitoring roles. Having previously worked with the osprey population in Kielder forest, Katy is looking forward to getting to know the Rutland ospreys and meeting lots of enthusiasts!
Marie and Katy are taking on roles similar to those previously held by Anya Wicikowski and Paul Stammers. After over 20 years with the Rutland Osprey Project, Information Officer Paul Stammers retired in September, and previous Osprey Project Officer Anya Wicikowski moved on to a fabulous new job at the end of the last osprey season. Paul continues to volunteer with the project.
