On a recent staff training day to identify the plants growing around the Reserve, we were delighted to note the following list of water plants, including some rare species.

This godwit was ringed in the Tejo estuary, Portugal as part of the same study on Icelandic godwits.
On Saturday, 25th April 2009, Matthew Berriman carried out a day-long birdwatch entirely from within the reservoir boundaries and saw 109 species, beating his own previous record set up in September 2001 by 8.
