The wildfowl on Rutland Water Reservoir are counted every month as part of the national recording project. Imagine a lagoon filled with several species of bird, and counting over 3000 Coot!

Goosander
This chart shows the maximum number of Goosander recorded each year. Numbers usually reach a peak in January and February each winter.

The chart below on the left shows that, Goosanders appear to be arriving earlier at Rutland Water each year. There does not appear to be any trend in their latest leaving dates.
