VISITING AND EVENTS

Information Board

One of the visitor information boards on the reserve

The reserve lies south east of Oakham, the county town of the ancient county of Rutland. See interactive map here.

From the west, the reserve is reached via the A6003 from Uppingham or Oakham. Coming from the east, use the road from Stamford (A606/A1). Free parking.

Or why not come by train? - Oakham station (2 miles away) is served by an excellent east-west service linking Peterborough to Leicester and Birmingham.

Local Bed & Breakfast Accommodation is listed here.

Dogs: to safeguard wildlife, grazing sheep and cattle, dogs are not allowed on the Egleton side of the Reserve. At Lyndon, dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a lead.

Please check our NEW Visitor's page to read about sightings and see images that have been sent to us by visitors to the Reserve.
