MEET THE STAFF

Tim Appleton
Martyn Aspinall
Julia Fisher-Robins

Tim Appleton is the Reserve Manager. Tim has been at the reserve since its creation in 1975. 
He has overall responsibility for the management of Rutland Water Nature Reserve.

Senior Warden is Martyn Aspinall. He has worked on the reserve since 1990. His special responsibilities are overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the management plan and liaising with volunteers.

Julia Fisher-Robins has been the full-time administrator for the reserve since May 2001. Julia's responsibilities include organising the team of volunteer wardens who help to run the visitor centres.

Reserve Warden is Martin Kerman who joined the team in October 2004. Prior to his appointment he worked for the RSPB in field research. He has also worked as a volunteer at Rutland Water and on other reserves both in the UK and abroad.

Fran Payne is an Assistant Warden, joining the team in August 2006. After her degree she was a regular volunteer on the reserve and also worked in the visitor centres as part of the education team .

Lloyd Park is another Assistant Warden who joined the team in 2007. His responsibilies include improving the quality of the grassland areas around the whole reservoir. Lloyd is also a fully qualified tree surgeon

Jacky Morrell

Sue James started as an Osprey Volunteer in 2004 and is now a permanent staff member as a Visitor Centre Assistant. This part-time role involves welcoming members of the public and supporting volunteers at the reception desk. She is also webmaster for this web site!

Tim Mackrill is the Osprey Team Officer.

Jacky Morrell is the Education Officer on the reserve. She is responsible for an extensive programme of educational visits for schools, colleges and adult groups. Jacky is also responsible for managing the AWBC building.

Will Kirstein joined us at the end of 2009 as Visitor Centre Assistant, having previously worked at the AW Watersports as an Instructor. Will is putting his zoology degree to good use with the many and varied schools that visit the reserve.
Vikki Price joined us in 2008 as a seasonal Visitor Assistant and is now a permanent member of staff, combining her duties with studying for a degree in conservation.
Sonia Rollings joined us as an AWBC Educational and Visitor Centre Assistant at Egleton. Sonia spent a year in the USA working at an outdoor education centre before joining the Rutland Water team.

Emily Smith is one of our Trainee Wardens.
