Opening times

 

Egleton Reserve is open daily throughout the year from 9am to 5pm. (4pm November - February). Closed Christmas and Boxing Day.

The Lyndon Hill Reserve is open from 9am to 5pm every day, from mid-March to Septemer. From October to mid-March it is open from 11am-3pm at weekends and Bank Holidays only. Closed Christmas and Boxing Day. Lyndon is signposted from Rutland Water South Shore, 1 mile east of Manton

Parking, Permits and other information
  • Day Permits : a charge is made for access to the Reserve with its 27 birdwatching hides, There is no further charge for parking. Permits are issued daily and can be obtained from the Centres. Concessions are available for senior citizens, students, disabled visitors and their carers. Family tickets for 2 adults and up to 4 children can be purchased.

  • We welcome Group Visits: and offer a discount for a party of 10 or more booked in advance £3.00. These visits can begin with an introductory talk about the Reserve by appointment. Please contact the Reserve Administrator for further details.
  • 4 Day Permit (to be used within 10 days of issue) £15.00

  • Anglian Water Family Activity Pass For regular visitors this is a very good buy for a family of up to 5 (2 adults and up to 3 children) £50 per family for the year entitles you to as many visits as you like during the year without further charge. This pass is only £25 per family if you are a member of the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust. Activity Passes give you free parking at Rutland Water, Grafham Water, Pitsford Water and free admission to Normanton Church Museum. (NB This pass does not give access to the Egleton reserve during the Birdfair weekend).

All the above rates give access to both the Egleton and Lyndon reserves.
Dogs (except guide dogs) are not permitted on the Egleton reserve under any circumstances. Dogs on leads are welcome at Lyndon

Additional Information

  • Disabled access :There is access for disabled visitors at the Egleton Visitor Centre and 10 birdwatching hides are adapted for those in wheelchairs. At Lyndon access is possible to Teal Hide and Swan Hide and the Visitor Centre.

  • Buggy: An electric buggy is available for hire at both Egleton and Lyndon (please ring to check availability - advanced booking is essential).
  • Toilets there are toilets with disabled facilities at both Centres

  • Dogs: to safeguard wildlife, grazing sheep and cattle, dogs are not allowed on the Egleton side of the Reserve. At Lyndon, dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a lead.
  • Binoculars: For a small donation we can lend you a pair of bonoculars for your visit.
