An introduction to wildlife photography 

Learn how to use your Digital SLR camera to capture wildlife and nature photographs with renowned, awardwinning wildlife photographer, Danny Green  10am—4pm (bring a packed lunch). £50. This course will be run twice: on 7th and 19th September.

Damselflies & Dragonflies  

A talk with slides followed by a 2-hour walk with Steve Houghton, founder member of the Leics & Rutland Dragonfly Group.

An  opportunity to view the  species habituating Rutland Water. Bring suitable clothing.

Dry-stone Walling

This popular course led by Trevor Alcock will be repeated on September 13th and 14th.

Identifying Water Birds

Wednesday 22nd October, a beginner's guide course to water birds from 10am-3pm £15 per head.

Art Exhibition at Lyndon Visitor Centre

Work by local artict Janet Bates will be on display in the Visitor Centre from 14th to 16th August. Paintings, photographs and ceramic sculutures which take reed beds as their inspiration.

13th August 10:30. Games, activities and Osprey watching on the Lyndon Reserve.
£2.50 for a child - well behaved adults free! No need to book.

Walks with the Warden

The perfect way to learn about the Nature Reserve - an afternoon walk with one of the wardens. Not only will you see a range of birds and other wildlife but you will also learn how the various habitats on the reserve are managed. The walks take place on 2 September, 1st October 1st, 5th November (!) and 3rd December at 1pm. The cost is the price of a day permit - just £4!

Friday Birdwatching walks

These walks are led by Terry Mitcham, the bird recorder of Rutland Natural History Society, and a very experienced birdwatcher. He regularly runs bird identification courses and has written several books. The walks with Terry are very popular and you are advised to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. 

The cost is £5.00 per person or £2 with an Activity Pass or Explorer Permit. Meet at the Anglian WaterBirdwatching Centre at 9:30am. Finish at 12.30pm.

Painting with Alan Oliver in 2008

There can few more attractive places to attend an art course than the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre, with its unrivalled light and prospect across Lagoon 1 towards Lax Hill. Alan's courses are very popular and early booking (through him) is highly recommended.
