On each of these 2 day courses you will learn how to plant a reed bed, manage it and cut it. You will find out which birds and mammals use a reed bed and about some which cannot exist without a reed bed. You will also learn about invasive species. Martyn Aspinall will be your leader. He has been involved in reed beds and their management since 1976 when the Nature Reserve at Rutland Water was created.
Day 1 (21st February) is classroom based at the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre.
Day 2 (22nd February) will be in the field looking at reed beds, reed bed issues and observing management taking place
Outdoor clothing will be need for day 2. Wellingtons are recommended.
Bring your own packed lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
