 This juvenile Mute Swan was seen from Lapwing hide by Tim Caldicott on the 6th November 2001.

And this beautiful picture of an adult was also taken by Tim, on 11 December 2002, from Heron Hide.

Both Bewick's and Whooper Swans are uncommon winter visitors at Rutland Water and they rarely stay for more than a few days. Both these were recorded in October 2003. The Bewick's is on the left and the Whooper on the right - notice the greater extent of yellow on the bill of the Whooper,
