Bittern Botaurus stellaris
During the first week of November 2001 a Bittern was observed most days on Lagoon III. Andy Brett saw it on 4/11 and took these pictures using a Sony PC6 camcorder through a Kowa 824 telescope. It was seen to clamber among the reeds, grasping several stems at once to take its prey up to eat.
