SCHOOL-HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Explorer Days
Environmental activity days on the Nature Reserve for children aged 7 to 11 years.
Run by qualified teacher-naturalists assisted by the Reserve Wardens.
Each day runs from 10am to 3 pm - £20 per child per day.Spring Explorer
Tuesday 27th May (half term week)
- Explore the Nature Reserve for signs of spring
- Look for birds and bugs setting up homes in the woodland and meadows
- Learn to identify common garden birds and how to do a bird count
- Find out what’s lurking in the depths of the pond
- See birds at close range – bird ringing with the warden (weather dependent)
The day runs from 10 am – 3 pm - £20 per child.
Autumn Explorer
October (half term week)
- Explore the Nature Reserve for signs of autumn
- Look for birds, bugs and trees preparing for winter
- Make a birdcake to take home for your garden
- See birds close-up - bird-ringing with the warden (weather dependent)
Winter Explorer
February (half term week)
- Watch the woodland birds
- Learn how to use binoculars
- Make a birdcake
- Test your ID skills
- See birds close-up - bird-ringing with the warden (weather dependent)
